COVID 19 Update

Posted by

We at the MPS Greek & Cypriot Association know that everyone's lives have been altered one way or another due to current global pandemic that is Covid 19.

This article is to inform you of how the pandemic has affected our association and to remind you of the guidance currently being published by the Metropolitan Police Service & the Government.

At the moment the association will continue to try and function as normal possible. The majority of the committee have the ability to agile work, and our priority is to provide our members & community the support & guidance should they need it. This however may change as time goes by and we will keep you up to date with any changes that might affect you.

As you will appreciate there are certain decisions that have been taken out of our hands and certain aspects of the association that we will not be able to deliver the way we usually do. These are listed below:

Easter 2020 Epitaphio Circulation:

As many of you will know, the MPS GCA have assisted St Constantine & Helen's Greek Orthodox Church for many years with the circulation of the Epitaphio on Good Friday. It is with a heavy heart that we will not be able to fulfill this function this year due to the measures being enforced by the government on mass gatherings and the likelihood of staff/officers being required in other priority roles.

AGM 2020:

Our AGM will still be taking place on Friday 1st May 2020, but through MS TEAMS on a conference call basis. All members should have received an updated invite with the MS TEAMS link. If you have not then please email mpsgca@met.police.uk

Cyprus Wine Festival & Business Exhibition 2020:

The decision has been made by the event organisers to cancel the event. We will therefore not be present this year. We fully support the difficult decision the organisers have had to make given the unprecedented circumstances we all face.

Members & Community BBQ 2020:

It has been decided that we will not be holding our annual Members & Community BBQ this year. It is unknown what government measures will still be in place by the 5th of July (proposed date), however due to the current measures it would be irresponsible to commit to such a big event which takes months to plan.

Membership & Merchandise:

We are still accepting new membership applications online, however there will be a delay in sending out new membership cards. We will not be processing any new merchandise orders until further notice.

May we take this opportunity to thank our members and community for their continued support and to remind you all of the latest government guidelines which can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

If you require police assistance for any reason and it is not an emergency then please consider reporting online via www.met.police.uk

For all our members working on the front line during this difficult time please take care of yourselves as best you can.

Best Wishes from all the MPS GCA Committee.
